“ Nijiya is the one Japanese market that goes for quality over price. There are some unique items here like organic Japanese rice or energy drinks and then the more usual staples like curry paste. That said the price for the deli items is pretty cheap here. They have very creative prepared Japanese items like negi toro rolls with mayo and the fried selection is very good. This location has a dedicated bakery and it's a bit more chill than Tokyo Central. The staff are pretty nice too. ”

“ All of a sudden I'm back in Japan. Their reasonable prices and high quality are reminiscent of the 7/11, Lawson, and other convenient markets in Japan. I've lived near Nijiya but have only been here twice in one week. Their raw salmon, hamachi, and ikura are so fresh and are perfect with warm rice and seaweed for lunch. I came in today and they had a plethora of diverse hot food that I decided to withhold from trying until another day! I did try a sample of a seafood okomomiyaki and it was restaurant quality -- I'm drooling just thinking about it. While there are multiple lines that seem to be very occupied, they are very quick. I do wish the aisles in the middle of the store were more clearly labeled. I was going down each to find what I needed. ”

“ Nijiya is a cute market that sells a variety of Japanese products and food imported straight from Japan. I love the selection of options and there's a high chance you'll be able to find the Japanese snack or drink you're looking for here. Other than groceries, Nijiya has a bakery and cafe section, selling warm meals and fresh bakery items. So many treats and goodies to try! May I add, the staff is super friendly and helpful so if you have a question, don't be afraid to ask! ”

I often find myself picking something up from here vs eating out because of how well priced it is. They discount their pre packed items after 7pm daily! ”

“ Nijiya Market is one of those food service locations that has been around forever. In fact, it was one of the first Asian-orientated supermarkets in the greater South Bay area. Though the food offerings from Nijiya have a basis in Asian cuisine, they are not limited to this. They sell a wide variety of all types of meats, dairy products, vegetables, drinks, you name it. They really have a vast selection of food. And, the items they sell are very high-quality. One of the nice things about Nijiya is that you can also get some interesting items normally found only in Asia. Thus, it makes your shopping experience a lot of fun. This is a very clean store. The aisles are well organized, and it is easy to find what you're looking for. The staff here are all very nice. They're happy to help you if you ever need any. Another of the great things about this business is that they have a French bakery located inside the store. They offer some very-very good pastries. They are really tasty! You can buy them by the full size cake or pie, or you can do like I commonly do, just buy a slice. They also have an area where you can eat your pastry within the store if you choose to do so. Overall, great food service business that has been around forever. ”

“ Check out this N. Torrance hidden gem! Really a 4.5 as I find their general grocery item pricing to be high for me personally (which is compared to Chinese groceries). But it IS on par with other Japanese groceries such as Tokyo Central and certainly Mitsuwa. What IS amazing here is the hot food bar! specifically the deep fried items! BEST FRESH TEMPURAS and KATSUS as you'd find in supermarkets in Japan. Tonkatsu, crab, corn, or veggie croquettes MMmmm good! And for $3-6 a pop, EVEN better! Look, it's no Carlos' Tendon (name drop for THE best tempura) but sometimes you don't want/need to drop $20 to satisfy a craving. They also have bentos and packaged sushi/sashimi like the other aforementioned supermarkets too, but to me, they do not compare to the tempura options. They sometimes also have chicken nugs that are basicallly McDs dupes for $3. Much better fried and def real meat! Anyway, there are also microwaves AND food court seating so THAT sets it apart from the others in terms of an actual dining experience. Perfect for seniors and young kids (FRESH SOFT SERVE anyone?!) to just chill and socialize OR perfect for the fast on the go professionals needing a quick hot lunch. “ I go there more often due to convenience. Their sashimi platter was so fresh and great. Sometimes it is easier to do a takeout during the week. Their osozai (deli) section is great. Deep fried chicken karaage to Takoyaki to many other authentic foods. They sometimes only have organic options for things I don't really care if organic. Pricey still but good quality in general. ”
